When Did Partnership Become Too Much to Ask?

Wanting your husband to participate in your marriage isn’t the same as expecting him to be perfect.

“Communicate your needs” is reasonable advice. But what happens when you’ve been communicating them for years, and somehow the problem is still how you asked?

This isn’t just about chores. It’s about wanting somebody to notice when you’re overwhelmed, make plans sometimes, and be interested in you. It’s about sharing responsibility for your life together without having to supervise his participation.

And sometimes, when a woman stops asking, it isn’t because things got better. She’s just tired of having the conversation.

I’m curious: Have you ever stopped asking for something you still needed? What made you stop?
