Welcome to Kesha Speaks
If you found your way here because something I said made you stop and think, “Wait… That’s what I’ve been trying to explain,” you’re in the right place.
Kesha Speaks is where I talk about the things women are usually expected to carry quietly: emotional labor, identity, relationships, gender roles, overfunctioning, self-trust, personal sovereignty, and what happens when a woman stops organizing her entire life around everybody else.
I’m interested in the larger patterns underneath our personal experiences. Not because every woman’s life is the same, but because sometimes the details change while the pattern doesn’t.
My work is about helping women put language to what they’ve been living through so they can understand themselves more clearly, ask better questions, and decide what makes sense for their own lives.
So what’s The SpeakEasy?
The SpeakEasy is the newsletter and subscriber community inside Kesha Speaks.
I gave it that name because I wanted it to feel like a place where we could slow down, tell the truth, and say some of the things women have been expected to carry quietly. And also “Speak… Easy.”
It’s where I can follow a thought all the way through without racing a clock or chopping it into pieces for an algorithm. It gives me room for longer writing, deeper videos, useful tools, and conversations that don’t have to end when the post does.
And no, you don’t have to constantly participate to belong here. You can read quietly. You can leave a comment when something moves you. You can join the conversation in Chat. You can step away when life gets busy and come back when you have the capacity.
This space isn’t built around performing community correctly or keeping up with a bunch of rooms. It’s built around good work, honest conversation, and giving you something worth returning to.
What free subscribers receive
Free subscribers receive:
The SpeakEasy every week, delivered directly to your inbox
Public essays and videos from Kesha Speaks
Access to open conversations and post comments
Updates about new tools, resources, and projects
The weekly newsletter will remain free. That matters to me because the language we need shouldn’t all live behind a paywall.
What paid subscribers receive
Paid subscribers receive everything in the free subscription, plus:
One deeper exploration every month
Access to the full archive of paid explorations
Subscriber Chat and conversations centered around the month’s theme
Occasional resources, downloads, tools, or experiences created to help you take the idea further
The monthly exploration won’t always arrive in the same format.
Sometimes it’ll be a big ass essay. Sometimes it’ll be a long-form video or a short video series. Sometimes it might be a worksheet, quiz, downloadable resource, guided reflection, or another idea I got excited enough to build.
I’m intentionally leaving room for the format to change because I know myself. If I promise the exact same thing in the exact same format forever, eventually I’ll get bored and start avoiding my own platform.
What won’t change is the promise: paid subscribers will receive at least one thoughtful, substantial exploration of that month’s theme.
What founding subscribers receive
Founding subscribers receive the same content and community access as paid subscribers, while choosing to support Kesha Speaks at a higher level.
This tier is for the people who believe in what I’m building and want to help give the work more room to grow. Your support helps fund the time, tools, research, production, and creative freedom required to keep making it.
Founding support is exactly that: a deeper investment in the work and where it can go.
Who this space is for
The SpeakEasy is for women who are thoughtful, emotionally intelligent, and tired of being handed shallow answers to complicated questions.
You might be married, separated, divorced, dating, happily single, or reconsidering what partnership should look like altogether.
You might be preparing to leave. You might have already left. You might be staying while learning how to stop disappearing inside the relationship.
You don’t need me to tell you what to do.
You might just need language for what’s happening, room to think honestly about what it’s costing you, and enough clarity to hear what you already know.
A quick but important boundary
I’m not a therapist, and Kesha Speaks isn’t therapy.
I don’t diagnose people, treat mental health conditions, or tell women whether they should stay in or leave their relationships. I talk about patterns, behaviors, conditioning, and lived experiences in plain language.
Sometimes that language helps a woman finally explain something to her therapist. Sometimes it helps her ask herself a better question. Sometimes it simply helps her realize she isn’t the only one.
The goal isn’t for you to become dependent on my judgment.
The goal is for you to trust your own.
About me
I’m Kesha Phillips, the woman behind Kesha Speaks.
This work started because I was trying to understand how I’d become so emotionally exhausted inside my own marriage. I began talking about what I was learning online with roughly 200 TikTok followers and no real plan beyond telling the truth about what I was experiencing.
Within a few videos, women started showing up in the comments saying the same things:
“You just gave me the words.”
In less than a year, that conversation grew into a community of more than 300,000 people across platforms.
I’m still talking about relationships, emotional labor, and the experiences that brought many women into this work. But Kesha Speaks is also about the much larger question underneath all of it:
What changes when a woman stops treating everybody else as the center of her own life?
That question can lead us into conversations about marriage, divorce, motherhood, friendship, work, money, ambition, intimacy, identity, grief, independence, and the complicated process of building a life that actually belongs to you.
I don’t have all the answers.
But I’m very good at finding the question underneath the question, noticing the pattern everybody’s been living inside, and saying the thing sitting in the room that nobody has quite known how to explain.
That’s what we’re gonna keep doing here.
